Presentation feedback

After each presentation we had a minute to write down feedback for that person. The point of doing this was to; improve our critique skills (avoiding words such as like and nice), work within the time limit provided and avoid using generic off the shelf critique vocabulary, making it more specific and personal to that individual.

We then split our feedback into 3 different categories; useful, constructive and ego boost

Useful

  • If possible could focus on some other design apart from techno
  • Maybe look into more modernist designers
  • Are you focusing on what 'good design is' / could you?
  • Maybe focus more on his graphic design
Constructive
  • Breaking mould of usual research topic
  • It's interesting how it's changed your opinion on design
Ego boost
  • Broad range of research
  • Interesting information
  • Strong illustrations
  • Well thought through
  • Knew what you were talking about
  • Connection to own work is great
  • Well opinionated
  • Appropiate topic choice
  • Plenty of visual
  • Clear and concise presentation
  • Good design theory and visuals
  • Good range of research
  • Very passionate
From this we were then set a task; Set 3 objectives on how to improve summer brief

  1. Focus down on a singular piece of design of his and talk about what it is and the purpose of it.
  2. Research the graphic design side of the iconic products he designed (branding, marketing, posters etc..)
  3. Research graphic design influenced from his products because he is such an icon of design as opposed to solely focusing on his influence on apples product design.
